The good news for the Titans is they moved off the bottom of the ladder with the two points from the bye last round. The bad news is they’re still 3-13 and five wins adrift of eighth. Aaron Booth will make his club debut at hooker and there’s also a new five-eigth in Tanah Boyd. David Fifita’s second cousin Sosefo (JoJo) will make his NRL debut on the wing.
Avoiding the spoon is the Gold Coast’s only realistic motivation from now on in so they should continue giving young guys a crack.
Aaron Booth is not so young at 26 but the former Storm hooker at least has a bit of attacking spark which is desperately needed on the Coast.
Erin Clark is a solid defender and decent option as a bench utility forward but has only managed three line break assists from dummy-half in 16 appearances this season.
Payne Haas needs at least another week before the star prop can return for Brisbane. The Broncos chose to rest Selwyn Cobbo even before his concussion in Origin. Kurt Capewell will also be rested.
