A struggling Gold Coast Titans outfit hosts the Canberra Raiders at Cbus Super Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 3pm AEST.

Justin Holebrook’s decision to opt for a young spine following the Titans narrowly missing week two of the finals last year has backfired massively.

The Gold Coast0based outfit have the third worst defence of the competition so far (470 points) alongside having the third worst attack of the competition (284 points). In short, a massive blunder to let Jamal Fogarty leave and provide hardly any experience in the Titans spine. And who will Titans halfback Toby Sexton be facing against this week? Fogarty, the man whom he replaced in the Titans team permanently. Captain Tino Fa’asuamaleaui moves from lock to prop to pave way for Erin Clark while Isaac Liu is demoted to the bench.

The Raiders are high on confidence, following James Schiller’s match winning try vs Melbourne and overcoming a 14 point deficit against the Warriors last week. Halves pairing Jack Wighton and Jamal Fogarty are starting to gel well together and that’s reaping plenty of rewards for a resurging Raiders outfit. Ricky Stuart has had zero hesitation of retaining the 17 that got the job done against the Warriors, while Charnze Nicholl-Klodstad and Semi Valemei are named in the reserves. Neither of the two are likely to push their way into the 17, however there could be a change of heart from Ricky Stuart.

Prediction

Before round 20 kicks off, the eighth till eleventh spots are ranked on points difference – that’s how tight the spot for eighth is heading into the final few rounds of the NRL. The Raiders could eke into the top eight if they thump the Titans knowing the home side’s history of capitulating in defence across countless games. The Raiders have taken plenty of confidence having beaten the Storm away two weeks ago and are favourites against the Titans. Fogarty to lead the Raiders to victory with a kicking masterclass and make the Titans regret letting him go.

Raiders by 6.
