Round 14 continues this afternoon when the Gold Coast Titans host the Sydney Roosters at Cbus Super Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 3:00pm (AEST).

Now that the first installment of Origin is over, it’s back to club football for the time being. The Titans have returned to Earth with a thud after a bright start to the season.

It’s not the last chance for them to resurrect their season but they are likely to fall two wins outside the eight with another loss this afternoon.

The Titans attack is not the issue. They are comfortably inside the top eight for points scored. However, they are the third-worst defensive team in the competition for points conceded, and it’s sinking their season.

With both sides missing Origin stars, the Titans did show some more grit against the Storm last weekend. In the end, only poor last-tackle options and a series of missed chances prevented what would have been an upset win.

Gold Coast have named their four Origin representatives, meaning a raft of players from last weekend, including impressive youngster Jayden Campbell.

He may yet get the call up if AJ Brimson pulls up sore. Anthony Don and Mitch Rein have been named in the reserves and both may return from injury.

After an upset loss to the Broncos, the Roosters bounced back with a big win against the Raiders a fortnight ago.

They are getting back towards full strength and would appear to be fighting it out with the Eels and Rabbits for the last two spots in the top four.

Strangely enough, the Roosters don’t have many Origin representatives. James Tedesco has been named to return with Joseph Suaalii a likely replacement if the Blues No.1 withdraws. Isaac Liu and Angus Crichton both return from injury in timely boosts.

Prediction
Justin Holbrook has big problems at the Titans and I don’t think he can turn it around this weekend.

The Roosters are too professional a unit to let this slip, Tedesco or no Tedesco.

Roosters by 10.
