The luckless Manly Sea Eagles host a Wests Tigers side whose finals hopes are also over. Join The Roar for live scores from 5:30pm (AEST)

The Sea Eagles were gallant at times against the Melbourne Storm, yet came away with a heavy defeat that officially ended their slim chances of making the finals.

A season full of injuries and rough refereeing decisions can’t end soon enough for Des Hasler’s charges. They have now lost five straight, and Hasler will demand a big effort here in front of the weary Brookvale faithful.

The Tigers were right up for the challenge against the Panthers, as is generally the case whenever they face former mentor Ivan Cleary. Despite starting fast and becoming the first team in 15 matches to score first against Penrith, Wests were eventually flattened.

Michael Maguire may struggle to get his troops keen after that result, especially if rumours that he has lost the support of his playing group are true. Benji Marshall will be keen to prove to his coach and board that they made a mistake not renewing his contract.

This game is one of the biggest coin-flips of the round, but Manly’s desire not to lose again at home might carry them over the line.
