One very special man takes centre stage as the Melbourne Storm look to surge further ahead of the rest of the pack against the Cronulla Sharks at AAMI Park. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting at 7:35pm (AEST).

The entire lead-up to Saturday night’s game has been dominated by tributes to the milestone man, Cameron Smith, who runs out for his 400th NRL game.

And it is only fitting he does so against the Sharks, who are arguably Melbourne’s greatest rivals from recent years, stemming back to their fierce meeting in the 2016 Grand Final.

Sitting six points ahead of the second-placed Roosters on the ladder, complacency could be a potential issue for Craig Bellamy’s men.

But this week that won’t be the case with so much to celebrate.

As such, Will Chambers, Josh Addo-Carr, Cameron Munster, Felise Kaufusi, Christian Welch and Dale Finucane have all been named to back up from Wednesday night’s State of Origin decider.

Marion Seve is a late scratching though, replaced in the centres by Justin Olam.

Cronulla aren’t so lucky on the injury front.

They will be without a trio of players – Matt Moylan (hamstring), Wade Graham (also hamstring) and Paul Gallen (glute/hamstring).

They are boosted by the return of prop Andrew Fifita though. Josh Dugan replaces Moylan at fullback with Aaron Gray into the backline while Luke Capewell starts for Graham on the edge.

Jack Williams locks the scrum for Gallen.

So many forced changes aren’t ideal for John Morris who is under plenty of pressure after three-straight defeats.

As it stands, the Sharks sit outside the top eight and despite their enormous potential are at risk of missing the finals all together if they don’t arrest the concerning slump.

Prediction
Cronulla always get up for their games with Melbourne.

They have plenty of talent on the sideline but they were able to beat the Storm earlier in the year despite being understrength.

In saying all that, it would be a shock to see the ladder leaders let their milestone man down.

Storm by 10.
