Round 4 of the NRL season comes to a close tonight as the Newcastle Knights take on the St George Illawarra Dragons at McDonald Jones Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting from 6:10pm AEST.

After a positive start to the season, the Knights have suffered back to back losses to the Penrith Panthers and Canberra Raiders.

In response, Knights coach Nathan Brown had ended the Kalyn Ponga at No.6 experiment and returned him to fullback, where he will have more room to move.

It’s not panic stations for the Knights as yet, but with 3 of their first 4 games at home, they will be very keen to notch another victory up tonight.

Mason Lino replaces Ponga at five-eighth while Kurt Mann makes room for Ponga by returning to the bench. Tim Glasby has been moved from prop to lock in a swap with Mitch Barnett, with Daniel Saifiti returning from injury on the bench. James Gavet drops out of the 17.

The St George Illawarra Dragons kicked off their season last round with a 25-24 win against the Broncos. They were clearly the better team on the night but a Corey Norman field goal was required to get them home.

Much has been made of the Dragons’ instability in the spine so far this year, but with Gareth Widdop’s shoulder dislocation ruling him out for an extended period, that problem appears sorted for now.

Matt Dufty comes in at fullback whilst, in a positive sign for Dragons fans, Tyson Frizell has been named as a reserve and could find himself in the 17 come game day.

Prediction
This is shaping up as an important clash with the loser having only one win in the first month of the competition.

I’ve got to admit I’m not sold on the Knights as yet, with their only win being over an error-riddled Sharks team in Round 1.

The Dragons looked good against the Broncos in Round 3 and will have appreciated the ten-day break leading into this one.
