The Newcastle Knights face another tough challenge to get their season back on track when they host the Sydney Roosters on Saturday night. Follow every point with our live scores page on The Roar from 7:35pm (AEST).
The Knights were far from disgraced in a 24-6 defeat to the ladder-leading Panthers in Round 7. Having lost four of their last five games, though, gallant won’t cut it for long with Adam O’Brien.
Kalyn Ponga was the hero in the Knights’ most recent win, a thrilling 26-22 triumph over the Sharks in Round 6. You suspect the helmeted maestro will again need to be at his best for them to snatch an upset win.
Much of the attention on the Roosters this week has been on James Tedesco, who has been named to take on the Knights despite suffering a head knock in their ANZAC Day win over the Dragons.
The Roosters know first hand the impact head knocks can have, with one co-captain in Jake Friend retiring after another concussion earlier in the season, while the other in Boyd Cordner remains on the sidelines for similar reasons. Don’t be surprised if Tedesco fails to get up, with Joseph Manu his most likely replacement in the number one.
