Following an appalling start to the season, North Queensland have turned things around with two wins in the last fortnight. Beating the Tigers and Bulldogs isn’t cause for huge celebrations, but it’s an encouraging turnaround in attitude for a side that looked to be imploding early on. The pressure goes up a notch tonight, however, against a much more impressive side.
It’s been a horrid fortnight for the Raiders, however, who’ve had their premiership credentials massively dented by back-to-back heavy losses against Penrith and Parramatta. The fact the Eels gave them a serious touch-up on their home deck was particularly concerning and a big response will be needed.
It was a close game when these sides met last year, but the Raiders got up 14-12 – their fourth win in five meetings with the Cowboys. Canberra have won on their last three visits to Townsville after having lost nine in a row between 2007-2017.
