The Parramatta Eels look to bounce back against a Melbourne Storm side down on troops but brimming with confidence. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:50pm (AEST).
After a sensational boilover loss to the St George Illawarra Dragons, the Eels face an even sterner test against a team they’ve lost to by a whopping combined score of 96-10 in their last two outings.
Parramatta are unchanged from the side that went down to the Dragons by two points. The Storm can’t catch a break on the injury and suspension front, with Jesse Bromwich, Dale Finucane, Suliasi Vunivalu and Jahrome Hughes joining Craig Bellamy’s lengthy list of unavailable players. Cooper Johns will be handed his debut with Hughes out.
It would be easy to assume the Eels hold the advantage in this one, with their home fortress and first choice team available – two luxuries Craig Bellamy’s side can only dream of. However, the team in better form is unquestionably the Storm, who hold the second-longest active winning streak in the NRL (eight matches).
Add to this Melbourne’s dominant recent record over Parramatta, and that the Storm are fielding a rookie halves combination, and it becomes apparent that most of the pressure is on the home side.
