The Canterbury Bulldogs and South Sydney Rabbitohs meet at Accor Stadium in the traditional Good Friday clash. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 4pm (AEST).

The season may have started poorly for the Bulldogs and the general consensus suggests that the blue-and-whites are destined for another season in the cellar before doing anything better in 2023.

But this fixture could well revitalise their campaign should the Bunnies disrespect their challenge in even the slightest of ways.

After an early win against the Cowboys, the Bulldogs have produced little of note, while the Bunnies have managed to topple the Roosters and Dragons over the last month.

Despite a few significant challenges, they stand to move emphatically into the top eight with a win in his fixture.

The long-term loss of Latrell Mitchell will hurt Souths, with Mark Nicholls also sidelined and not helping the cause.

Whereas Trent Barrett has the luxury of naming the same 17 that took to the field against the Storm last weekend. Thus a potential upset looms.

Kyle Flanagan was the new option for the Bulldogs at the scrum-base last week and while he didn’t provide an immediate solution, he appeared to straighten and organise a Bulldogs attacking unit that has needed significant improvement for a mighty long time.

South Sydney will place immense pressure on this part of the Bulldogs’ game and should Barrett’s men continue to flounder in attack, the Bunnies will use their own weapons well and walk away with what could be a decisive and comfortable victory.

This Good Friday battle always entertains and the 2022 edition looks likely to produce the same.

Souths have won the last two editions and hold a 6-3 winning record across the decade that the holiday fixture has been played.

The Dogs will need something special to turn the tide and Souths will be desperate for two points that would keep them up close to the front runners in the 2022 NRL premiership race.

Prediction
While it will be a terrific moment when the Bulldogs eventually find a second win for the season, it is unlikely to be this weekend.

The Bunnies are almost sure things to claim the points and move comfortably into the top eight.
