The first week of the NRL finals winds up this afternoon as the South Sydney Rabbitohs host the Newcastle Knights at ANZ Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting from 4.05pm (AEDT).

It’s a case of polar opposites when we look at these two teams’ last-start form. However, this is the NRL finals series and the slate is wiped clean. Having said that though, Knights fans will be more than a little concerned about this match-up.

60-8. No one saw that coming. Sure, the Roosters were off their game but the Rabbits were superb. Wayne Bennett will even crack a smile with the Bunnies playing this well.

Cody Walker is in the form of his life and he is taking Adam Reynolds along for the ride. Part of that is due to the improvement of the Rabbits’ much-maligned pack. Tom Burgess and Tevita Tatola are getting better each week while Damien Cook and Cameron Murray are now playing like they belong in NSW jerseys.

In team news, Jaydn Su’A returns from suspension, allowing Cameron Murray to return to lock. Liam Knight returns to the bench while Hame Sele misses out.

The Knights ran into a Titans team in good late-season form last weekend but they wouldn’t have expected to be on the end of a 36-6 thrashing. Adam O’Brien has his work cut out trying to restore his team’s belief.

They still have a good squad, with a strong pack led by David Klemmer. Kalyn Ponga needs to find a way to get the ball in his hands more often. If he does, the Knights are capable of an upset.

Lachlan Fitzgibbon returns in the back row with Sione Mata’utia going to the bench and Brodie Jones out.

Prediction
We can’t underestimate home ground advantage, with the Knights winless away for the last half of the season.

The Rabbits are unlikely to be able to repeat their last game heroics but will do enough to win here.

South Sydney Rabbitohs by 10.
