Latrell Mitchell returns as the South Sydney Rabbitohs aim to do what no side has been able to yet in 2021: take down the Penrith Panthers. Follow along as the NRL heads to Dubbo with live scores on The Roar from 7:35pm (AEST).

The Rabbitohs have struggled against the cream of the crop in this NRL season so far. They’ve been comfortably dealt with twice by reigning premiers the Storm, and now face the might of the undefeated Panthers. A 32-22 win over the Sharks saw Wayne Bennett’s men back on the winners’ list, but despite an 8-2 record and fourth spot on the ladder, concerns remain.

Mitchell’s return from suspension is badly needed, and he will slot straight in as fullback, with Cody Walker moving back to five-eighth and Benji Marshall to start on the bench. Souths were spared the brunt of the NRL’s brutal crackdown in Magic Round, with Jaydn Su’A and Dane Gagai escaping with fines for incidents last week and free to play.

The Panthers were far too good for the Titans at Suncorp Stadium, a 48-12 win continuing their unbeaten start to the year.

Even more worryingly for rival teams, they are beginning to put teams to the sword in the second half as well, rather than choosing to shut up shop as they did at times in 2020. Kurt Capewell returns from concussion to add even more power to the NRL’s most fearsome line-up.

Perhaps no player will be watched more closely in this match than returning Rabbitoh Josh Mansour. He departed the Panthers in a messy exit at the end of 2020, and has struggled with injuries and form at his new club to date. But no player in the NRL will be keener to bring about the Panthers’ downfall than the experienced winger.
