Long-time rivals in the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Sydney Roosters go toe-to-toe in the final round of the regular season. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:50pm (AEST).

One of the best rivalries in the NRL will be on show tonight. South Sydney against Eastern Suburbs, the Bunnies against the Chooks, fourth on the ladder against second.

Considering these two are likely to meet in the semis, this clash comes at an opportune time. The Roosters are flying, with only Melbourne gaining more wins this year and they are fresh off giving the Panthers a pasting.

Souths have found some form after an up and down past few months. In the past fortnight they’ve knocked off the Warriors and the Broncos.

As the Rabbitohs beat the Roosters in round one this year, Trent Robinson’s men will have their eyes on some revenge.

They will be helped by the return of skipper Boyd Cornder and halfback Cooper Cronk.

The Chooks have great strength, as you can see with Brett Morris and Mitch Aubusson making way to be replaced by Billy Smith and Angus Crichton. Sitili Tupouniua comes into the match-day 17.

For Souths, they remain mostly injury-free apart from Kyle Turner and Braidon Burns. Tom Amone comes in for Turner while Campbell Graham is the centres in Burns’ spot.

Sam Burgess is back fit and firing after he got through 55 minutes against the Warriors last week coming back from a quad injury.

How these forward packs clash will be interesting to watch. The Roosters have the advantage in size and power with Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Isaac Lui, though they will miss Siosiua Taukeiaho who is out with a rib injury.

Wayne Bennett will use Burgess at prop, to cover for the loss of other front-rowers, and will want Liam Knight and Tevita Tatola to stand up.

Prediction
These two teams are evenly matched, with rep stars all across the park and, in a derby game, anything can happen. But the Roosters just seem to have a slight edge at the moment, are in better form and with the bigger pack.

Roosters by six points.
