A crucial early-season game looms for the St George Illawarra Dragons and Manly Sea Eagles as they kick off Friday night footy in Wollongong. Stay up to date with their NRL clash with live scores on The Roar from 6pm (AEDT).

After not having too much to be proud of in their opening-round loss to the Sharks, the Dragons defied the odds last Saturday night to knock off the Cowboys 25-18 and take a very rare two points away from a trip to Townsville. Despite coming into 2021 with low external expectations, St George Illawarra have a golden opportunity to move to 2-1 tonight and finish the round inside the top eight.

Manly, on the other hand, have started the season in poor fashion and find themselves in last for now, but with their wooden spoon odds growing by the day. They were far more competitive against Souths last week than they were in Round 1’s disaster against the Roosters, but they look to lack a lot of class and polish – with crucial injuries proving particularly unhelpful.

The Dragons have a superb recent record over the Sea Eagles; crushing them 34-4 in last year’s only meeting to give them five wins from their last six meetings. Manly have a woeful record in Wollongong too, having not won at the ground since 2003 – losing seven in a row since.
