After a strong patch of form, the Dragons have dropped two straight matches and are at risk of losing touch with the top eight. Their last two losses – to Cronulla and South Sydney – were close, competitive affairs but, with a four-point gap between them and eight-placed Souths, they need to start picking up wins.
They’ll be hoping to catch the Roosters in a funk, who come into this match on the back of three fairly ordinary performances. After suffering a narrow defeat to Canberra at home, the Chooks have had to fight tooth and nail to see off the lowly Warriors and Titans over the last fortnight and would be hoping for a lift.
The Dragons have a miserable record against the Roosters, losing the last four meetings (including a 26-16 defeat in Round 7) and 15 of the last 18. The Roosters have alternated wins and losses at WIN Stadium dating all the way back to 2003. If the pattern continues, they’re due for a win tonight.
