Needing a win to stay in touch with the top eight, Wests Tigers hope to get past the New Zealand Warriors in a Friday night affair at the SCG. Join The Roar for live scores from 6pm (AEST).
The Tigers were brave and competitive against the high-flying Eels a week ago but, ultimately, they were outmatched. The 26-16 loss saw them fall to ninth on the NRL ladder but, with a points differential of +58, they don’t need to consult Pythagoras to find a way back into the eight – just win, and they’ll be fine.
The Warriors, on the other hand, continue to endure a hopelessly unfair and unfortunate season, but were surprisingly competitive against the Roosters in their Round 11 loss, holding a halftime lead and only falling away at the end. They’ll be buoyed by that performance, especially coming up against such notoriously flaky opposition.
The Tigers enjoy a strong recent record against the Warriors, having won five of the last six meetings, including last year’s only encounter 34-6. Wests haven’t lost to the Warriors on Australian soil since 2013, although this will be just the second ever meeting between the sides in Australia not at Leichhardt Oval or Campbelltown Stadium.
Kick-off: 6pm (AEST)
