Two teams with finals aspirations who haven’t quite been able to put it all together yet meet when the Wests Tigers welcome the North Queensland Cowboys to Campbelltown Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 5:30pm (AEST).

Ask these clubs what their expectations for the season are and they’ll say a finals appearance. Ask anyone outside and you’ll probably get a big shrug. Both the Cowboys and Tigers should be capable of making the eight, but they also both struggle horrendously for consistency.

Take the Tigers: sitting ninth heading into this round (where else?) one week they’re beating the Sharks, the next they’re losing to the Titans, and we saw that same form fluctuation last week when they broke into an early lead against the Raiders before being overcome in the second half.

Similarly, the Cowboys went from demolishing the Titans to losing to the Sharks and Warriors in consecutive weeks.

North Queensland have some injury woes making things worse, too. Michael Morgan is still some way from making his return from a shoulder injury, and fullback Valentine Holmes and prop Jordan McLean have now joined him in the casualty ward.

Tigers coach Michael Maguire is persevering with Benji Marshall out of the side, preferring Josh Reynolds and Luke Brooks in the halves instead. Tommy Talau (injured) and Russell Packer (suspended) are both out of the side, but Robert Jennings comes in for Talau. This will be the first time Wests have faced the Cowboys since former Tiger Esan Marsters made the move to Townsville.
