The NRL finalists are set for another year, which means it’s time for everyone’s favourite end-of-season game: picking your NRL team of the year.

With 2018 being one of the more even years we’ve seen for quite some time, with favourites stumbling and underdogs performing well, there are sure to be plenty of positions right up for grabs.

Take hooker, for example. In years past, picking anyone not named Cameron Smith would have been close to madness, but with the Melbourne Storm veteran missing some of the season through injury and Damien Cook propelling South Sydney to an outstanding home-and-away campaign, there’s every chance the Rabbitohs rake will get the nod.

Similarly, you’d be hard-pressed to pick retiring North Queensland superstar Johnathan Thurston in the halves given the Cowboys’ lacklustre season, so the race for the number seven jersey is wide open. Those in contention include Adam Reynolds, Cooper Cronk, Nathan Cleary and Shaun Johnson.

But really, the decision is entirely up to – after all, it is your team of the season you’re picking, after all.

We’ve provided a long list of players in contention for team of the year honours. Simply click on a position in the picker above, and select the player who you think deserves to be there – we’ve arranged them firstly by position (backs, halves, hookers, forwards) and then by team.

Then, be sure to share your team of the year with all your mates to get the debate going over who knows their NRL the best!
