'Can't thank him enough': Ivan Cleary reveals James Maloney's post-Origin phone call

The Penrith Panthers cruised to their sixth straight victory to continue their stunning turnaround after a lacklustre start to the 2019 season.

The Panthers had few issues putting away the last-placed Gold Coast Titans, thanks in part to Origin-winning playmaker James Maloney, who returned from the decider to once again star in first-grade.

And speaking after the 22-point win, Ivan Cleary revealed Maloney had selflessly assured the Panthers coach he would be fit to play so as to ensure his halves partner Nathan Cleary would have more time to recover from his ankle injury.

Cleary, however, did confirm that Nathan will likely be available next round against the St George Illawarra Dragons.
