Des Hasler takes a crack at 'nitpicking' referees

Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles coach Des Hasler wasn’t too thrilled with the refereeing following his side’s loss to the Parramatta Eels to finish the home-and-away season.

The Eels got the jump on the Sea Eagles with a pair of tries within the opening eight minutes, while keeping Manly try-less for the opening half.

Despite injuries and a sin bin for Marty Taupau the Sea Eagles managed to bring the deficit back to just six points in the second half.

However Hasler couldn’t hide his frustration about “nitpicking” calls from the officials that dented the Sea Eagles’ fightback, before the Eels closed the game out off the back of a hat-trick from Maika Sivo.

Taupau has since copped a grade three careless high tackle charge for his hit on Ray Stone.

The front-rower would miss the first final if he accepts the charge with an early plea, but could miss two if he fails to have it overturned at the Judiciary.

A knee injury will keep Taniela Paseka out of Manly’s first final at least, while Curtis Sironen is also a concern with a knee issue.
