Matt Scott's emotional retirement announcement

North Queensland Cowboys champion Matt Scott has announced he will retire at the end of this season.

The 33-year-old has had several injury issues over recent years and says he has “squeezed” everything he could out of his body.

Scott has played every one of his 263 NRL games for the Cowboys. He has also represented Australia and Queensland 22 times each.

In an emotional press conference, the Prop thanked the Cowboys for believing in him and the support he has received from staff, teammates and his family over his entire career.

“There’s no doubt the overweight, freckly, young country kid from Ilfracombe would have been quickly chewed up and spat out if I had signed with anyone else,” Scott said.
