WATCH: Gus Gould manages to weave Game of Thrones and Origin together in his pre-game monologue
Phil Gould’s final word before Origin was a regular feature in the 2010s and after a few years’ in the wildnerness, it was back in Townsville for the first State of Origin match.
‘Gus’ was convinced by the Nine Network and fans of his pre-game monologue to bring it back even though he felt like he was ‘too old’ for it.

With a huge bumper Queensland crowd trying their best to drown out Gus, he delivered an impassioned Origin speech to get everyone excited including a Game of Thrones reference.
