Wayne Bennett admits to selection mistake after Rabbitohs' crushing defeat
The South Sydney Rabbitohs were embarrassed by their close rivals and the reigning Premiers to open the 2019 finals series.
Wayne Bennett’s men were helpless as the Sydney Roosters piled on six tries before they hit back with one of their own, slumping to a 24-point qualifying final defeat.
While the master coach was adamant it had been the team’s poor start that cost the Rabbitohs, he conceded he had erred in the team’s balance, having moved youngster Adam Douehi to the wing.
The 21-year-old made 12 appearances during the home-and-away season having been used as a halfback and centre but found his feet at full-back where he played nine games in-a-row entering the finals.
