Nobody expects the NSW Waratahs to be able to challenge the Blues when they travel to Eden Park for some Saturday afternoon rugby. Keep an eye on this Super Rugby Trans-Tasman match on The Roar from 2:35pm (AEST).
After a winless Super Rugby AU season, the Tahs showed signs of improvement in defeat to the Hurricanes last week. Letting through ten tries was unlikely to result in a happy ending, but scoring seven of their own, including a double to impressive prop Harry Johnson-Holmes, points to a brighter future for the men in sky blue.
The Blues, too, piled on the points in their opening round win over the Rebels: the difference was, their miserly defence conceded just three points for the match. Back at home, where only the all-conquering Crusaders could topple them in Super Rugby Aotearoa, the Tahs will be up against it from the outset.
The visitors are handing a debut to James Turner, the 2020 Shute Shield leading try-scorer. Named on the wing, ‘Jimmy the Jet’ could trouble the Blues with his pace and power.
