The Jaguares will be desperate for a victory when they make the trek to South Africa for a tense match-up against the Bulls in Pretoria. Join The Roar for live scores of the match from 12:05am (AEDT).

On the surface, this shapes as a contest which will have a huge amount dictated by the way the two forward packs play, but then, the same was probably said last night as the Sharks ran away in a surprising upset over the Lions.

With the Sharks now maintaining pace with the Lions at the top of the South African conference, the importance of this game has become all the more significant, with finals implications almost certainly attached to the result one way or another.

Of all 15 teams, the Jaguares now have the equal least points alongside the Sunwolves, and if they don’t start winning, and winning now, any chance of them matching last year’s effort and sneaking into the top eight will be disappearing in a hurry.

The Argentinian outfit had a mixed start to the season, but have now lost three high-scoring matches in a row, and must get their defence in order if they hope to be a chance of bouncing back against the Bulls.

The Bulls, on the other hand, are also desperate for a victory. They beat the Sharks by four points last week and are sitting with a wildcard spot to the finals at the present time, but the key to keeping a spot in the finals will be defending their home turf.

Like the Jaguares, there have been defensive questions surrounding the Pretorian franchise this year, and conceding 56 points against the Chiefs a fortnight ago won’t help that line of questioning, but last week’s effort was much stronger, and they’ll look to keep building on that moving forward.

Prediction
There is no question the Jaguares are going to be desperate for a victory and then some in this contest, but the chance of them springing an upset away from home seems a little slim.
