The Bulls have a finals spot locked in, regardless of today’s result. If they were to win, they’ll play the Hurricanes next week in Wellington. A loss could drop them down to eighth, forcing them to travel to Christchurch to play the Crusaders.
The Lions currently hold a finals position, and as long as they get a losing bonus point or better, they’ll retain that placing.
A solid record against their South African rivals has gotten the Bulls where they are, though the Lions have won just one from five against other teams from the republic.
Going through to play the Jaguares would be a good result for the Lions, who have beaten the Argentines on two occasions this year.
The Bulls won the last meeting, 30-12, but the Lions won the previous four before that.
In team news, Bulls flyer Rosko Specman returns from injury for this game, while Duane Vermuelen and Warrick Gelant also are back in the fold. Jannes Kirsten and Jaco Visagie come in for this game, with Jason Jenkins and Schalk Brits both ruled out.
The Bulls are hard to beat at home and should get the job done.
