Super Rugby Pacific Round 10 kicks off with the Chiefs going up against the NSW Waratahs as the Melbourne Super Round begins. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 6:45pm AEST.

This is going to be an exciting weekend for lots of reasons. Not only do we have the first super round of the competition with all of the weekend’s matches taking place in Melbourne, but it’s the first time fans will get to see the Australian teams take on their Kiwi rivals.

The Tahs lead the Chiefs by one place and one point on the overall ladder and after winning five matches from eight this season, the NSW side will be desperate to show that they can compete against the better sides in the competition and not just their local rivals.

Waratahs Head Coach Darren Coleman has brought in two new players to his starting line up – both in the backs as Jamie Roberts and Will Harrison get a chance to impress from the kick off.

The pack remains unchanged – the first time this season have named the same pack two games in a row.

In advance of this clash, Coleman has apparently reached out to Wallabies head coach and former Chiefs coach Dave Rennie to try and get some insight into how to beat the Kiwi side.

He has been a great sounding board for me. I am a first-year having a crack at this, and it’s my first shot having a go at the Kiwis, so I wanted to bounce some ideas off him and figure out how we are going to try and attack these fellas. It was helpful,” said Coleman this week.

The Tahs will look at the fact that the Chiefs are missing key stars Brodie Retallick, Anton Lienert-Brown and might also be without Josh Ioane and Brad Weber and think they won’t get a better chance to topple a Kiwi side. If they want to make the finals this year then these are the games they really have to win.

Prediction

The Tahs have a great opportunity here but they haven’t got enough points in them to overcome the Chiefs. Chiefs to win by 8.
