The Highlanders have put a disappointing Aotearoa campaign behind them so far with strong wins over two Super Rugby AU finalists, but will be looking to go up another gear to keep pace with the bonus point-holding ladder leaders. How they cope with the sudden relocation of what was supposed to be a home game to Sydney will be interesting.
No side has struggled to adapt to the rigours of Trans-Tasman more than the Melbourne Rebels. They were embarrassed mercilessly by the Blues in a 50-3 obliteration in Round 1, before barely offering a threat in a 35-13 loss to the Hurricanes a week later. The fact they’ve been so hopelessly outclassed by non-finalists is a worry and another heavy loss today would bring about panic.
