The Hurricanes and Brumbies look to build on their one win, one loss records as they go head to head in Round 3 of the Super Rugby season. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting from 5:35pm AEDT.

The Brumbies could well be the side that strike fear into the hearts of Kiwi sides if they can repeat their Round 2 demolition of the Chiefs.

Last week the men from Canberra were on fire. They played with real pace with their scrum half, Joe Powell, whipping quick ball from the ruck time after time for runners to crash onto.

Their ability to get out to lead against the Chiefs was exciting but what was really impressive for Brumbies fans was how they never once took their foot off the throat of the Kiwi side.

They put them to the sword and as well as racking up a great scoreline, they will have built some serious confidence as they head overseas.

The Brumbies will keep the same back line in place with Powell and Christian Lealiifano being key to unlocking the Hurricanes defence.

Last week Lealiifano played one of his all time great games and looked wonderful.

If that’s his new norm then the Brumbies could be in for a very exciting season – not something that seemed possible after 2018 or the first round falling to Melbourne.

He played at the line with real confidence and aggression and the Chiefs were almost mesmorised when he had the ball in hand.

In other exciting news for the travelling Aussie side is the fact that David Pocock is back. He is worth his weight in ethically mined gold and then some, and his impact at the breakdown is going to be crucial.

If the Hurricanes playmakers of TJ Perenara and Beauden Barrett can get quick ball or turnover ball at the ruck then they can unleash all types of havoc and the Brumbies will need to be on point all night long to keep them quiet.

Upfront the international front row of Scott Sio, Folau Fainga’a and Allan Alaalato will start meaning the Brumbies have power in both forwards and backs.

The Canes are home for the first time this season and are fielding their strongest side as well with plenty of talent back in the starting line up.

They snuck past the Tahs in Round 1 mainly because of the Tahs mistakes and they got torn to shreds in the first half against the Crusaders in Round 2 – but hey, who hasn’t?!

This week they will be wanting not just a good win but a solid performance with all aspects of their team functioning well.

While the backs are full of talent, look to the forwards to see some interesting battles between the back rows of both sides.

The Canes will know that they are going to have to be on top form against a confident Brumbies side and the battle for clean, quick ball is going to be key.

Prediction
It has been a long time since two Aussie sides beat two Kiwi sides in the same round – since Round 16, 2014 in fact. This weekend’s bold prediction is that this streak will end as the Brumbies and Rebels will both win.

Brumbies to win by 5.
