Super Rugby AU comes to Sunday afternoon for the first time when the Melbourne Rebels host the ACT Brumbies at AAMI Park today. Join The Roar for live scores from 2pm (AEST).
It’s approaching must-win territory for the Rebels. After starting the season with a string of promising outings, they’re now coming off their worst two performances of the year in the form of losses to the Reds and Force.
With the finals only two weeks away and third place still very much up in the air, the hosts cannot afford another slip-up.
Making matters worse is the MCL injury Reece Hodge sustained last time out which has him pencilled in for a ten-week stint on the sidelines. With captain Dane Haylett-Petty still not back from concussion, Tom Pincus slots in at fullback, while Campbell Magnay comes into the centres.
There is some good news for the hosts on the injury front after back-rower Isi Naisarani was named to make his return on the bench.
And it’s not as if the Brumbies have named a completely full-strength side, either. Nic White and James Slipper have both been given a chance to freshen up on the bench ahead of the finals, and Irae Simone, Tom Cusack and Pete Samu are out of the matchday squad altogether.
