Super Rugby Pacific round four continues with an exciting clash as the Queensland Reds look to keep their perfect start to the season intact as they take on the Fijian Drua at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:45 pm (AEDT).

Brad Thorn has made just three changes to his starting line up off the back of a good win against the Force last week and three straight victories.

Jordan Petaia will start at full back with Jock Campbell moving out to the wing for this week. Petaia has yet to really fire in the competition and he needs to start living up to his potential.

Taniela Tupou returns to the starting line up in the front row and Harry Hoopert will make his first start of the 2022 season.

With Lukhan Salakaia-Loto injured, Ryan Smith will start in the second row and University of Queensland’s lock Connor Vest could make his Queensland and Super Rugby Pacific debut off the bench.

In honour of Queensland Rugby Union’s Pasifika Round, eight players will wear the flag of their pacific background on their jersey which will be signed and auctioned off after the match to raise further funds for UNICEF Australia’s Tongan Recovery Appeal.

The Fijian Drua will be in confident mood after their maiden Super Rugby Pacific victory against the Rebels last night but will appreciate that the Reds are a step up in terms of quality.

Coach Mick Byrne has made it clear that he sees this season as a chance to focus on continual improvement. “There’s improvement in all aspects of our game and we are happy with our defence. We want to keep getting better and hang on to the ball and not give possession to the opposition,” Byrne said earlier this week.

Teti Tela is crucial to their success and the fly half will need to be at his very best to go head to head with James O’Connor. The back row of Meli Derenalagi, Vilive Miramira, Te Ahiwaru Cirikidaveta will need to repeat its impressive play in broken play and combine it with hard work at the breakdown to stop the Reds from getting quick ball. If they don’t then the Reds back line will have a field day.

Prediction

The win last week showed that the Drua are definitely not just here to make up the numbers but there is a big difference between the Rebels and the Reds and the Queensland side, with some extra fire in their hearts after the recent floods, will run away with this one.

Reds by 20.
