The Queensland Reds are on the hunt for their first win of the Super Rugby season in tonight’s clash with the Sunwolves in Brisbane. Join The Roar for live scores of the match from 7:15pm (AEDT).
The Reds have played good rugby at times this year without being able to string together a consistent 80-minute performance. They collapsed in the second half last week against the Jaguares – albeit in somewhat controversial circumstances – and will be desperate to get on the board for 2020 today.
Making that task more difficult is the news that young star Jordan Petaia has sustained a season-ending injury. Petaia dislocated his shoulder before last week’s match and will require surgery to repair the joint, a procedure which requires a 20-week layoff.
Hunter Paisami was a strong performer in Petaia’s place last Sunday, and another good outing will see him further cement his place as the Reds’ first-choice outside centre for the rest of the season.
Brad Thorn has made no changes to his starting side for this match, with Queensland to persevere with the same XV which started so well last weekend.
Prediction
At home, against one of the weakest sides in the competition, the Reds should be able to finally break their season duck with a win over the Sunwolves.
