The Bulls were brought thudding back to Earth last week, and the task of returning to their early-season form won’t get any easier in Round 7 as they hit the road to play the Sharks. Join The Roar for live scores from 12:05am (AEDT).

The Bulls were far from perfect to begin the season, but they were getting results which had them riding comfortably at the right end of town in the South African conference.

Their start to the season included a 34-17 win over the Sharks at home, but all that was brought crumbling to the ground last week as their defence faulted in what could only be described as a beatdown by the Chiefs.

The New Zealand-based franchise, who at that point were yet to do anything of note for the season, put on 56 points away from home in what was a shellacking for the Bulls, who will need their forwards to be back at their best if they are to run with the Sharks this week.

Outside of losing to the Bulls, the Sharks have been solid this season, and come into Round 7 having handed the Rebels a 14-point loss last week on the back of a startling penalty count.

They are unlikely to get that two weeks in a row and will need to find other methods of controlling the game, but they have been solid if not spectacular so far in 2019.

In saying that, early wins over bottom clubs like the Sunwolves and Blues might have inflated their stock a little bit, with both teams desperate for a win here to stay with a vastly competitive South African conference and overall top eight on the Super Rugby ladder.

Prediction
The Sharks are at home, and after their win over the Rebels to get back into the winners’ circle, it looks like that’s just about all there is to split the two sides.
