The Sunwolves and Rebels will go head to head in Tokyo on Saturday in a match that could be both poor and thrilling all at the same time.

These are the two worst teams based on recent form in the whole competition so some might feel that they are in for a dire game.

However the Rebels have so much at stake and there are some great matchups that this game could well be the match of the round. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of this exciting match starting from 3:15pm AEST on Saturday.

With just 3 rounds left after this weekend it’s crunch time for many teams and the Rebels are in that unfortunate position where they need to win AND rely upon other teams slipping up.

Earlier in the season it looked like the Rebels had learned from last season and weren’t going to have that slip in the middle rounds.

However over the past few weeks they’ve managed to give their fans plenty of cause for concern. They are currently six points behind first placed Brumbies in the Australian conference and in their final three games they have to play the Tahs, Crusaders and Chiefs. Not a simple run in.

They’ve got one of their strongest line ups taking the field on Saturday against the Sunwolves though and will be keen to put in a faultless performance.

Crucially, Adam Coleman is back in the second row and the back row is looking mean with Ross Haylett-Petty and Richard Hardwick joining Angus Cottrell.

The battle up front is always key but if Will Genia and Quade Cooper are going to get the Rebels off to a fast start then the pack are going to need to dominate from the outset.

The Sunwolves have shown that they are capable of being a genuine threat against almost any team this season but have also been their own worst enemy at times.

The head to head battle between Hayden Parker and Cooper will be interesting to watch – Cooper needs a very good game while Parker has the ability to kick the Rebels into submission.

But of all the match ups on display there is one that is attracting a lot of attention – how will Amanaki Mafi meet the Rebels and how will they meet him?

The former Rebel left the club under the shadow of a very serious alleged incident against his own teammate and this will be the first time Mafi has played his old club.

Everyone knows he’s a powerful ball runner and he’ll be wanting to run right at the heart of the Rebels defence. But look for the Rebels to get some early hits on him to keep him quiet.

Prediction
The Rebels need a very good performance here. If they can get off to a fast start they can perhaps break the spirits of the Sunwolves.

They must be disciplined too – Parker’s boot is just too deadly. But overall the Rebels should win this one and win it well.

Rebels by 10.
