The Western Force are home for the first time in 2022 and will welcome the Queensland Reds to a hostile reception at HBF Park, Perth as round three of Super Rugby Pacific brings fans an exciting all Australian derby. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 10:00 pm (AEDT).

The Force are planning to play at a fast pace in front of their home crowd and catch the Reds off their guard. Leading the charge will be the young halfback pairing of Issak Fines-Leleiwasa and Reesjan Pasitoa.

Force coach Tim Sampson gave an insight into the team’s plans, saying “We want to start pretty fast, and Issak brings that. He’s very dynamic around the fringes of the breakdown.”

Pasitoa has been earning plenty of praise in the opening rounds and there’s even talk about whether he could leap frog Noah Lolesio in the Wallabies pecking order. That’s premature for sure but if he can guide the Force to a win over the Reds then the hype will only get louder.

Richard Kahui retains his spot in the centres after an impressive performance against the Rebels. His cool head and controlled play was an important aspect of the Force’s victory and he’ll be able to provide a valuable support to the younger players around him.

The Reds are travelling as favourites, however there are reasons for their fans to be concerned. Tate McDermott is out as are Liam Wright and Angus Scott-Young. There’s still plenty of talent in the ranks but scrum half Kalani Thomas will need to play well to keep the team moving forward.

While there are some key players out through injury, the good news for the Queenslanders is that Hunter Paisami is back and will be a handful for the Force defence.

This should be an absolute beauty of a game and could be very tight. The home crowd support will play a role for sure and the Reds will miss McDermott. However they’ve got just a bit more up front and talent in the backs than their Perth rivals and will steal the win.

Reds by 5.
