Maori All Blacks and Fiji's spine-tingling pre-match face off

By The Roar / Editor

There were stunning scenes in Suva as Fiji took on the Maori All Blacks in the final game of their two-match series – even before the game had started.

The two teams delivered fiery war cries at one another; Fiji with the cibi followed by the Maori All Blacks with the haka, as a captivated crowd watched on.

While the Fjians had led the series 1-0 entering the game, the Maori All Blacks hit back in the second.

The visitors piled on four tries to run out 26-17 winners.

After watching what seems like thousands of hakas over the years I can assure you my spine was not in the least bit tingled. My spine remained entirely indifferent throughout in it's horizontal position glued to the lounge though no doubt some muscles made sufficient effort to tip some pale ale into my gob while some other muscles - mostly of the finger variety - managed to press the fast forward button long enough to make the hakas as brief as possible. Think I might even got up to 60X at one point!!
