Prediction
These two are right up next to each other in the table, but have taken different routes to get where they are. United began well with two crushing wins over both of last year’s Grand Finalists, Melbourne City and Central Coast Mariners, plus a creditable draw at Melbourne Victory.
Since, however, they have struggled badly, especially in defence. They were smashed on home turf by Sydney FC, conceded four in defeat to Macarthur and have lost their last two without scoring to Brisbane and Western Sydney.
The Jets have been the competition’s most inconsistent side, recording statement wins over Western United and league leaders Wellington Phoenix but drawing too many games and losing to both City and the Mariners.
Perhaps their biggest hope will come from those victories against the Nix and WU – both were on the road as underdogs.
