Brisbane Roar welcome Adelaide United to Cbus Super Stadium in strange circumstances in the third game back for the A-League. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, with the ball rolling at 7:30pm (AEST).

Both sides will be going into this clash with new coaches, after Robbie Fowler and Gertjan Verbeek parted ways with Brisbane and Adelaide respectively.

The Roar announced on Thursday that Warren Moon has taken over the Fowler’s empty position. Moon established himself as head coach of NPL Queensland side Lions FC before moving to become the Roar’s academy general manager.

Moon takes charge of Brisbane in a solid position. They currently sit fourth on the table with ten wins, five draws and seven losses from 22 games.

It is unlikely that the new head coach will change too much for the Brisbane side – Tom Aldred mentioned in the Fox Football Podcast that they had been training like they were under Robbie Fowler.

The Roar are also one of the few teams who are welcoming a full squad of players back, and that may be enough to get them the three points this match.

Adelaide United can still make finals. Currently sitting in seventh place, they are level with Western United who have a game in hand.

However, they have been dealt with a big injury blow with playmaker James Troisi having surgery last Tuesday. Troisi is expected miss at least four weeks, ruling him out for the rest of Adelaide’s final five matches of the campaign.

Interim head coach Carl Veart also may have trouble in the left-back position, with Michael Maria departing the club.

Prediction
This game is hard to predict, with two new coaches and three months without any performances to judge. Will we see a different Brisbane Roar style under Moon? Will Adelaide improve their leaky defence?

On their form before coronavirus, Brisbane come into this contest as favourites. Moon’s players have the quality to edge this game 2-1.

Join The Roar tonight at 7:30pm (AEST) for live scores and a blog of what is set to be a tantalising match-up.
