Brisbane Roar and Wellington Phoenix open Round 25 of the A-League on Friday night. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 7:50pm (AEST).

Both Brisbane and Wellington lost away from home last round, but Wellington’s was arguably more crucial, dropping points to similarly placed Adelaide United.

Brisbane were victims of some very good Melbourne City goals, and their goal came from a Harrison Delbridge own-goal.

Wellington import Cillian Sheridan finally broke his duck against Adelaide. Another goal here could really boost his – seemingly lacking – confidence in the final third heading into finals.

Brisbane’s already long injury list grew longer in the week, with Ruon Tongyik and Henrique being ruled out for this one.

Charles Lokoli-N’goy, Izaack Powell, Tobias Mikkelsen and Aaron Reardon come into the extended squad, with two of them replacing Tongyik and Henrique.

The Phoenix however have no new injury dramas, just the big Louis Fenton shaped hole to fill on the right. Callan Elliot comes into the squad along with the returning Justin Gulley.

Last time these teams met Wellington won 4-1. That though was back before Christmas. The two sides are very different looking now, and Brisbane with a different manager.

Prediction
Both sides have had their issues in recent weeks, mainly in defence.

Wellington are the better side, it’s just a question of whether they can return to their strong run of form from before the international break.
