The Perth Glory have rediscovered their winning touch and will be keen to continue their premiership push away to the Central Coast Mariners in the last A-League match of 2019. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match from 7:00pm (AEDT).

Things were not looking rosy for Perth at the start of the new A-League season. The pain of a lost grand final to Sydney FC was still fresh in the memory and it showed on the pitch with some lacklustre performances.

But a great win over Melbourne City away from home has reignited Perth’s campaign, with Tony Popovic’s men earning three victories on the trot to storm up the ladder.

On their day, Perth remain a genuine title contender and their recent form guide spells great danger for a Mariners outfit also rediscovering the winning touch.

Perth’s last outing – a 6-2 thrashing of the Newcastle Jets – was their best display of the lot with their star men Diego Castro and Bruno Fornaroli in imperious form.

History suggests they should back up their big win with another three points, having lost just one of their last five A-League games the week after scoring five or more goals in a game (three wins and one draw).

But don’t expect Glory to have things easy against a Mariners side showing great spirit and resilience under Alen Stajcic.

Sunday’s 1-0 win over Adelaide United was a display of grit and no shortage of quality to move within two points of the top six with a game in hand.

And it should not be forgotten that the Mariners have already beat Perth this season – a thrilling 2-1 win at HBF Park back in Round 4.

Prediction
The Mariners at their best can prove to be stubborn opposition at home, so this is a danger game for Perth. The Glory, however, have rediscovered their hunger after a disappointing grand final defeat last season and should be expected to build on the momentum they already have.

Perth to win 2-1.
