The Central Coast Mariners and Western Sydney Wanderers do battle in what is the penultimate match of the season for both clubs. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:50pm (AEST).

Potential contracts for next season might be the greatest motivating factor when the Mariners and the Wanderers meet at Central Coast Stadium tonight.

The home side will be hunting just their third win of the season, while the Wanderers will be looking to continue what has been a much-improved end-of-season run.

Markus Babbel finally has his side playing the kind of football for which he hoped earlier in the season. An injection of youth has done the trick and the 1-1 result in the Sydney derby last weekend said a lot about just how far this side has come since its disappointing start to the season.

The visitors will be near full strength, with just seemingly out-of-favour goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic missing with a shoulder problem.

Oliver Kalac comes in for his debut, hoping to begin a football journey that will be incredibly successful should it reach the heights of his famous father.

The Mariners welcome back Tom Hiariej, Kye Rowles and Aiden O’Neill for this match and also put a strong side on the pitch.

With Jack Clisby resigning during the week for a further two years, this match will be another opportunity for some of Alen Stajcic’s young talent to show the owners that they too deserve a spot on the Mariner’s roster for next season.

With a host of names set to depart, it loomx as another off-season of change for the Mariners, with even the overseer of the process still not decided.

Prediction
All season long the Mariners have taken early leads and competed well yet failed to put the final polish on so many matches from which they could well have taken points.

The Wanderers look comfortable favourites in this one and expect more of the same as the Central Coast look good early before the visitors dominate the second half and claim all three points.
