Two current top six teams meet at AAMI Park in Melbourne when Perth Glory travel to face champions Melbourne City in the opening fixture of A-League Men’s Match Week 4 action. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 7:45pm (AEDT).

After knocking off the ladder leading Victory on Sunday, Perth back up just days later with another Melbourne side on their radar. Even considering the send-off that hampered the opposition, Perth looked polished and aggressive last weekend and will enter this fixture with a great deal of confidence after their first win of the season.

Currently fifth on the ladder, a win in this fixture will place the men in purple in an excellent position considering their eventual return to Perth, that will see them enjoy a decent stretch of home matches after spending most of the early season on the road.

Patrick Kisnorbo’s City lost to derby rivals Western United last weekend and with just one win from their opening three fixtures, look far from the dominant side that took home all the silverware on offer in the 2020/21 season.

The one thing that is for certain is that City will continue to create chances each and every week. On days where they struggle to find the net, they may be beatable. However, there will be far more good days than bad with the squad at the manager’s disposal and with any fair share of possession and opportunity, a serious tilt at the Premiership Plate still appears likely.

Tonight could well be one of those nights where City put the pedal to the floor and rebound from what was a disappointing showing against John Aloisi’s team last week. Yet it could also be a night where Richard Garcia’s men prove that last time out was no fluke and that they are indeed ready to challenge the tops teams.

The back-up will challenge both squads early in the season and the one that manages that load the best could well prove to be the winner at the completion of the 90 minutes.
