Match preview:

Melbourne City are back at AAMI Park as they face off against Adelaide United, in what will be a battle for fourth on the table. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 7:50pm (AEDT).

City return home after failing to score in losses in both Wellington and Sydney. But with the inclusion of both newly signed strikers, Jamie Maclaren and Shayon Harrison, they will be looking to reverse their issues in front of goal. City will be missing the suspended Kearyn Baccus.

Adelaide will arrive in Melbourne after playing out a 4-3 win at home against Brisbane. The win came at a cost though, with playmaker Ken Ilsø picking up a red card to end his night early and ensure he will miss this match too.

Coach Marco Kurz has ruled out striking solution Ben Halloran for a while with a “long term injury”, but Adelaide have a new striker of their own, with Dutchman Jordy Thomassen set to make his first appearance.

The big in for Melbourne City is Socceroo Jamie Maclaren who joins from Darmstadt after a semi-successful loan spell at Hibs.

City’s defence will have their work cut out for them, particularly out wide with in-form wingers Craig Goodwin and Nikola Mileusnić, and overlapping fullbacks Ryan Strain and Scott Galloway looking to exploit any space left open.

Another one to watch on the wing is young Carlo Armiento, whose pinpoint cross in to Mileusnic in injury time is what saw them take victory over the Roar.

Prediction
Can City break their mini-drought? Can Adelaide’s wingers score more than City’s shiny new forwards? Yes, to both.

Melbourne City 2 – 3 Adelaide United
