Melbourne City face the Western Sydney Wanderers in quarter-final action of the FFA Cup. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:30pm (AEST).

With a semi-final spot on the line, Melbourne City and Western Sydney will be desperate to continue their chase for silverware and also be hoping to build some confidence heading into the upcoming A-League season.

After some fiery clashes in the past and the high stakes on offer, this match could be a physical contest with no quarter given.

Melbourne City look early favourites for the league this season and with a fit Bruno Fornaroli working up front with Michael O’Halloran and Dario Vidosic, they possess some significant weapons who will hurt many defences. With Bart Schenkeveld organising the troops at the back, City’s defence will be strong once again.

The Wanderers have a new man in charge with German Markus Babbel taking over and some promising new signings in the form of countrymen Patrick Ziegler and Alex Baumjohann.

Interestingly, Nick Fitzgerald could make his Wanderers debut against his old club. After a rather directionless 18 months, the Wanderers will be hoping for a season of redemption and what better way to get things rolling than with a win tonight against one of the best squads in the country.

Prediction
After a tight first half, City will prove too strong when the game opens up. The Wanderers will struggle a little with combinations and the more settled City side will be a little too polished at this early stage of the season.

Catch all the action on The Roar with live coverage from 7.30pm (AEST).
