Melbourne Victory host Western United for the second leg of their semi final tie. Join The Roar for live scores from 5:15pm AEST.
Melbourne Victory took the most initiative in the first legs of A-League semi-final play, with a Jake Brimmer goal proving the only successful strike of the weekend and one that now demands Western United bring everything they have to the table in the return match.
As we’ve seen so often in two-leg playoff matches in Europe, the tactics can be fascinating when one team knows they have a goal advantage and the other knows they have to score at least two goals if they want to win the game in regulation.
The temptation for Victory will be to be patient at the start and frustrate United but that can be a dangerous approach.
Victory are the clear favourites after an incredible unbeaten streak of 16-games and it will take something special to deny them qualifying for a seventh A-League grand final.
