The resumption of the 2019-20 A-League season reaches Saturday evening, as the Perth Glory host the lowly Central Coast Mariners at Central Coast Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 5pm (AEST).

It’s been a while since either of these teams have played football – and much longer since they’ve played each other. New Year’s Eve last year was the previous encounter between the Glory and Central Coast. That game, played at the same venue as this evening’s clash, ended in a dominant win to the Western Australians. The Glory have excellent form at the venue: they haven’t lost in Gosford since December 2017.

Perth have been in good form this season, currently sitting fifth with eight wins, seven draws, and five losses. They’ve been winless since February though, after failing to score a victory in their final four games before the competition’s pause. Those games included a nil-all draw with ladder leaders Sydney FC and a loss to struggling Newcastle.

Nonetheless, Tony Popovic’s squad remains heavy favourites headed into this clash. That might be explained by the Mariner’s horrid season thus far – their last win was against lowly Melbourne Victory back in January. That win was one of just four so far this year for Alan Stajcic’s men. Unless they pick up some form, it’s the Mariners who look destined to finish the season in last place.

Win or lose, the Glory will have something to celebrate, with Liam Reddy reaching 300 career A-League games and Tony Popovic managing his 50th match for Perth.
