The Socceroos and Saudi Arabia meet in Jeddah for their final qualifying game in the third round of World Cup qualification. Join The Roar for live scores from 5am AEDT.
Australia can no longer automatically qualify for the World Cup after losing to Japan and Saudi Arabia have already qualified for Qatar.
It means this game is effectively a friendly but the Socceroos coach Graham Arnold will be telling his players to pretend it’s a game they have to win to simulate the do-or-die play off in June in the fourth round of AFC qualification.
Arnold already alluded to the fact that he’s likely to play some fresh faces to give them a feel of what it’s like in an international match.
This game will be a chance to test some combinations for the Socceroos with only two months until the one-match playoff to try and make it to the last chance saloon of World Cup qualification which is a playoff against the fifth ranked South American team.
