Both teams enter this match with a point from the opening weekend. Sydney FC earned theirs in a lacklustre derby against the Wanderers, whilst the Bulls could probably have expected more after conceding a penalty early against the Phoenix in Newcastle and never quite being able to produce the quality required in the second half to find an additional goal to add to Liam Rose’s 61st-minute effort.
Sydney were far from impressive against Western Sydney, but for Milos Ninkovic there appeared little precision and quality in the front third and manager Steve Corica will be sweating on the return of his Brazilian striker Bobo. Macarthur looked good in patches, yet did also appear a little out of sync with Daniel De Silva, Ulises Davila and Rose not always managing to find themselves on the same page of the attacking book.
It sets up an intriguing clash and potentially a perfect moment for the Bulls to find some fluidity and topple one of the competition powerhouses.
