Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory meet in the first ‘big blue’ of the season at Jubilee Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 5pm (AEDT).

Always one of the most anticipated matches on the A-League schedule, the feisty and tense relationship between these two teams will continue today, with both in good form.

Jubilee Stadium will host its first A-League clash of the season and if you were looking for a ticket to the match, give up, it is well and truly sold out.

Sydney are undefeated in season 2018/19 with a pair of draws and wins. A win tonight would send them to a temporary lead on the table, with Perth a chance to reclaim that spot in the later Sunday match against the Mariners.

Despite two previous losses, the Victory were brilliant against Central Coast a fortnight ago and their cohesion up front looked ominious for the rest of the league.

Keisuke Honda is getting better with each match and Ola Toivonen threatens to tear defences to pieces once he settles in and becomes comfortable with the style and dynamics of Australian football.

Sydney has uncovered the marksman for whom they were searching to replace Bobo and Adam le Fondre has made a stunning start to the season, scoring at a goal a game through the first four rounds.

With some injury concerns that threaten to linger and up against the depth of the Victory squad, Sydney will play its toughest match of the season so far.

As always, it will be gripping, passionate and at times confrontational and we wouldn’t want it any other way.

Prediction
Despite Sydney’s solid start to the season, this is their toughest test to this point. Victory look to be improving week by week and may have too much firepower up front for the Sky Blues.

In saying that, the Sydney defence is one of the best in the league. Just to whet the appetite for the next ‘blue’, I am tipping a low scoring draw.
