Bankwest Stadium hosts the important Round 7 A-League clash between the Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne City. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:30pm (AEDT).

First versus third meet in a potentially ladder-shaping clash to start the weekend of A-League action. Melbourne City have been the form of the competition so far; with 13 goals in six matches and four wins from their last five matches.

The x-factor for City has been the form of Jamie Maclaren who continues to score goals for fun. His first-half hat-trick was not enough to take all three points against Brisbane Roar last weekend, yet City showed enough to suggest that scoring goals will not be an issue for them this season.

Securing up their defence will be, having already been breached nine times and Western Sydney will be looking to capitalise on that statistic tonight.

The Wanderers sit third on the ladder and look a much-improved side after some shrewd off-season recruitment by Markus Babbel.

Despite the new-look squad and the talented additions that appear to have righted the Wanderers’ ship, it has been Mitchell Duke who has taken on the role of creator in much of their play.

With the best defence in the competition and just four goals conceded, finding the net in attack looks like being the area that will require development as the season unfolds.

Prediction
The first half of this match could be very cagey. Both sides will be desperate not to fall behind; knowing full well that doing so could be the deciding factor in the match.

Despite the home ground advantage, City look the goods on paper. The depth in their squad and the confidence with which they are currently playing will see them scrape over the line in this one by a single goal.
